HOW DOES ECU REMAPPING WORK?

All cars are originally programmed to perform well within their capabilities, so that the manufacturers are covered in case of any eventuality. An ECU remap overrides these settings to allow it to achieve its full potential in terms of power, torque and fuel efficiency.

ARE REMAPS ALLOWABLE BY INSURANCE POLICIES?

Nowadays, most insurance policies tolerate ECU remaps on a wide variety of cars. Having said that, you must inform your provider of any remaps you plan to perform to prevent you from violating the terms of your contract.

HOW WILL A CAR REMAP AFFECT MY FUEL EFFICIENCY?

The fuel efficiency of a remapped car will be superior to that before the operation, provided you drive in the same manner as you did previously. However, the greater capabilities of a remapped ECU may tempt you to drive faster and more aggressively, which will mean the engine consumes more fuel.
