We were contacted by this customer asking if we could help him with his car, he told us that he had recently had another remapping company out to look at it but after them spending an hour with the car they reported that they were unable to remap it.
Using the registration of the car we were able to perform a virtual pre map check and discovered the car could be done but only directly into the ECU and not via the OBD cable port
This requires a specialist remapping tool that can pin directly into the ECU which we use on a regular basis.
With all vehicles it’s is possible to communicate with the ECU (electronic control unit) via the OBD (on board diagnostics) port, this is mainly for reading fault codes that the car may have, but when it comes to writing files on to the ECU via this port there are sometimes limitations due to too much hardware and software between the ECU and OBD meaning as in this case writing the new file onto the ECU could only be done directly
On arrival at the job we were successfully able to locate the ECU and perform the remap on this car efficiently without any issues, the whole job took us just under 1 hour.
The customer was extremely satisfied and said he would highly recommend.
“I had my mercedesc180 mapped by joe on Saturday. Cracking fella and the difference in my car is unbelievable, I’ll definitely recommend and will do to everyone I know.”
